Salad myth 1 - people who go on a diet will do best if they consume a lot of salad.
Salad myth 2 - eating a lot of salad in your diet is good for you.
when you look at your food pyramid, cereals, grains, pasta, rice, bread , and such like, should be at the bottom. if you keep them there and reject totally processed, fast, junk, pre packed foods and stick to fresh products as much as possible and that includes a good amount of meat and dairy including the fats, then you should be well on the way. This includes eggs just incase you are beleiving the "High Chloresterol" myth, yes eggs are high in chloresterol but this is dietry chloresterol and has almost no impact on your blood/chloresterol level.
Oh and another myth is that we should all drink X litres of water a day, complete rubbish.
I don't know how your cooking skills are, but many when presented with a shopping trolley full of fresh stuff are simply lost as to what to do with it. May i suggest you get a hold of the book Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, well worth it even if you are a good cook.
Also if you are really interested in diet and health may i suggest the "Weston A Price Foundation" website, you will not be reading long before you come to realise just how we have been lied to by food manufaturers and diet dictocrats.
